I took some pictures around my apartment of a particularly sunny day...
As I've said before, the 1st Sunday of the month is when all the national museums are free entry. So I took advantage of that with a visit to the Picasso Museum and a walk around the Marais (mah RAY), which is a nice, quiet area that is actually pretty busy on Sundays. The Sunday I went, there were people all over doing their shopping, having a coffee, walking their dogs, etc.
Here are some photos of my discoveries...
As I explored the Marais, I decided to practice my photography skills. Here's a series of photos I took just wandering around:
Ah, Paris!
The other day I attended a lecture that one of my French professors back at GA Tech told me about that centered around the topic of Feminism in today's society. The lecture was in an amphitheater at Sciences-PO, and it was held in the spirit of Women's Day.
Speaking of Sciences-PO, the second semester has officially started and my classes are going well so far. I'm enjoying most of them, I've already learned a ton of interesting things, and I already have a visit to the Opéra Garnier planned for next week! There's only one class I'm not enjoying, and it's mostly because I wish the professor would go into more depth with the topics.
Another recent occurrence... the French Sciences-PO students are all required to study abroad their 3rd year, and they all recently found out which schools they've been accepted to. My friend Clément was accepted to go to Boston College in the US, and he's really excited. He told me that he wants to meet the students who are studying at Sciences-PO this year on exchange from Boston so that he'll already know some people when he does eventually go over next year. Since I know a few of those people, I organized a little get-together at a local American bar for us all to meet each other. Unfortunately, none of the other French students could make it to the party, but at least my friend Clément had the chance to meet a ton of other Americans like he wanted! We taught him some American slang, a drinking game, and how to high-five! He's going to fit in so well next year... I'm so proud! :)
Oh, and I have another soup update for my mom! We made your French Onion soup and it turned out soooo yummy! Here's the evidence!
MMM so good! With real French bread and a real Swiss cheese and really good red wine!!
And if all this isn't good enough, my boyfriend is coming to see me next week for his Spring Break and I'm so excited!!
But for now I'll leave you with this final thought: Have you heard about the Swiss gigolo? I thought it was funny... :)

hey samantha!! your amsterdam pictures are really cool, they're getting me excited for going there in a couple weeks! actually, that same weekend i'm going to paris (Saturday - Sunday March 28-29) with my friend!!
We'll only be there a few days, but I thought it would be cool to meet up if you have some free time. Otherwise, maybe you have some suggestions of some of the most important stuff we can do in two days!!
do you have any friends who have come to visit and know of a good (and cheap) hostel or area to stay in?
glad things are warming up in paris!! it's happening slowly but surely here...
I saw various paintings and a lot of his early work. They had an exhibition going on for another artist too, but I can't remember the artist's name. My favorite was the sculptures, which all looked like big bubbly heads meant to look like people. Very abstract. I would have posted pictures, but photos weren't allowed inside the gallery.
