Perfume, the Eiffel Tower, and Mom's last day (part 6)

Now for my mom's last day visiting me in Paris... :(

Before coming here, my mom requested to see 2 things:
1. the Edith Piaf Museum
2. the Fragonard perfume museum

and other than that she let me plan everything else. The Edith Piaf museum didn't work out since I found out it's in someone's apartment (which strikes me as weird), and that the websites described it as more of a shrine to her than anything else (which strikes me as creepy, ha ha). But we did make it to the Fragonard Perfume museum, which is located in Opéra, another chic area in Paris.

Of course, Opéra has an opera house in it- the Opéra Garnier (the famous one where the story of the Phantom of the Opera takes place). Here's one of the sides of the opera house.

But here's the entrance to the perfume museum.

It was really nice inside and it actually used to be a royal residence before it was a museum.

Here's a case showing one of the techniques of making perfume, which has to do with pressing flowers in wax to extract the aromas.

This is called a perfume organ and it's used as a measuring device. They call it a perfume organ because "perfumes are composed like music" (from the descriptor plate)... how poetic!

I needed proof that I was here. :D

Mom ended up buying a sample set of really nice perfumes in the gift shop downstairs, and I took a bunch of those paper sticks that you test the perfumes on... and they are currently freshening the bottom of my purse! :D

And for my mom's last evening in Paris, we took her to see the Eiffel Tower at night.

Remember how it used to be lit up in blue lights? They switched it back to the regular gold lights because France doesn't hold the EU presidency anymore (now it's with the Czech Republic).

View from the bottom.

Another view from the bottom.

Then we found a café overlooking the tower and all had a really really good cup of hot chocolate!
Two thumbs up and a peace sign for the hot chocolate! :D

Here's our really funny waiter! He joked around with us the whole time we were there.

And one last picture of all of us at the café!

We also saw a light show while we were there, and Mom got some of it on film (I tried to provide some mood music for the background ha ha):

Mom ended up getting sick towards the end of the trip, but with some rest, she was feeling well enough to continue sight-seeing. And the flight back home was a lot easier than the flight here, so that was definitely nice. It was great seeing a face from home and eating so well (she made some amazing food while she was here too!) and mostly just spending time with her.

So to my mom: I had such a great time showing you around and thank you thank you thank you so much for coming! I love you!!!! :D

Bisous XOXO

P.S. A big thanks goes to my grandma too for the blanket thing with sleeves!! I haven't had the chance to try it out until recently after Mom left, but with the cold weather, it's really coming in handy. So thank you! :)
